I think MTSxxx is fine. Do you also want to designate whether these are simply unknowns/unattributed, or if they're documented to meet Kuethe's definition of an MT? Or do you want another category for those that turn out to not make the cut? What about medals, awards, wooden nickels? You could just add a "Category: xxx" identification in the description of the piece, beginning with Kuethe's six types, or you could withhold the MTSxxx identifier until any question is resolved. Maybe use Unknown xxx, like Steve's site.

Similar subject - Is it worthwhile to begin a text listing of updates to existing Kuethe entries, such as new metal types, any known corections, etc?

I'm interested in putting together a new catalog to supplement Kuethe's and containing coins out now and after Kuethe's publication. I'm a schoolteacher and out for the summer. Is there a need, interest, etc. and would the MTS be willing to help supply info?

I'm sure there's a need, given 25 years of material. The tough part would be researching attributions - probably more than a summer break worth of work.

Would you be interested in updating Kuethes' entries and time-period as well? There's an equal need there, I feel. I think Jon's effort at collecting a full set of images is a good part of it. Another example - there are also 102 undated tokens.

I think Jon might be able to help guauge the feasibility of such a project with a formal survey (private/anon) of the current membership in terms of the resources out there. What libraries of research material exists (magic catalogs, etc), relative size of collections in MT time-frame listed/non-listed, 1977-current attributed/unattributed, etc... Would a membership survey be of interest? What else could be included? Other collecting interests. How many are magician's vs coin/token collectors? etc..

I heard a rumor that Randy Forgaard and Robert Olson are working on an update to Keuthe's reference... any truth to that?

That would be great...but I have heard this for 3-4 years....in fact I had stopped writting an update originally when I had heard this...however the MTS was put online because such a need for updated info exists.....however it takes time so I welcome all members help and support...
